Marc Mercier was born in Montreal and raised in the Niagara Peninsula and now resides in Ottawa, Canada.

His art is characterized by layers of depth and resonance, colourful lyricism, and a plethora of tactile surfaces. After 30 years in the IT field, the artist is now unleashing a treasure trove of emotive possibilities and interpretations.

Most admirable is his versatile creative approach in using mixed media and his techniques in brushwork. He deftly combines the spontaneous dynamics of acrylic paint and also encaustics. His skillful use of brushes, palette knives and other tools further expand his visual language.
